I know you might ask me why I got another new host after already having three. Well I am thinking about leaving HostGator for the fallowing reasons:

  1. $15 backup restore. I needed a backup restored once do to mine being corrupt and I was told of a $15 dolor charge.

  2. I am breaking the TOS with my text based game. I know Brent told me I would be fine as long as I did not take down the server, but it does not feel right to be allowed to break the TOS.

  3. Crucial Web Hosting has an account much like a VPS.

  4. My own IP address.

  5. A working anti-virus in the cpanel.

Anyways, my first impressions are good. The first few days I was just testing them out, installing the scripts I would be using making sure they work and do not have any issues. They did not.

So I then started transferring things from HostGator to Crucial Web Hosting and was contacted by the owner and he asked me how ever thing was going. I told him what I had been doing and I was just transferring over the site. He then replied and kindly offered to transfer it for me, which actually shocked me as I was not expecting it at all but went ahead and let him transfer it.

There were a few issues with the transfer as I ended up with 2 accounts on Crucial, one under the username on HostGator and one under the username of the account that was created when I signed up. That was corrected though and every thing from HostGator is now on Crucial.

The other day I was having an issue uploading an SQL back up I needed to restore so I could create a hall of fame for the text based game I have, and he helped me with that too and was able to make the hall of fame that my members wanted.
